DUTACAP – (Dutasteride Capsules P 0.5 mg)
DUTACAP (Dutasteride Capsule) is used in men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia-BPH). It works by reducing the size of the enlarged prostate. This helps to relieve symptoms of BPH such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream, and the need to urinate frequently or urgently (including during the middle of the night). It may also reduce the need for surgery to treat BPH. Dutasteride is not approved for the prevention of prostate cancer. Talk to your doctor about the benefits and risks. Women or children should not use this medication.
Safety & Precautions
- Dutacap (Dutasteride Capsule) must be taken orally with a glass of water, regardless of food intake.
- Do not cut, crush, or chew this medicine.
- Consult your doctor for the right dose for you.
- Before taking Dutacap, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to finasteride or dutasteride. Or if you have other allergies.
- Because this drug may be absorbed through the skin, women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not use this drug.
- Contraindications dutasteride should not be used in women, children, or patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to finasteride.
- Do not store it in the bathroom.
Possible Side Effects
The most common side effects are:
- Dizziness
- Unusual weakness
- Drowsiness
- Trouble sleeping
- Blurred vision
- Runny nose
- Problems with ejaculation.
Stop using Avodart and contact your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following serious side effects:
- Pain on penile erection that lasts for more than 4 hours,
- Severe dizziness, or fainting.
Overdose
If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, seek medical help right away.
Symptoms of overdose usually include chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, and light-headedness or fainting.
